Our Team

We would like to introduce you to our core delivery team at HMC Global. Our team is made up of experienced heads and gifted graduates supported by detailed and robust training and development programmes.

John HaranCEO

Prior to co-founding HMC Global, John set up Invest Northern Ireland’s offices in the United States and across Europe, as well as managing their operations in Asia, helping bring in investment projects from companies such as Citigroup, Vodafone, Visa, NYSE, and IBM.

In the past, he was Chief Executive Officer of a local pharmaceutical company, presiding over a 40% increase in its revenue and its eventual successful sale to a US buyer. He holds an MBA from the University of Ulster and currently sits on the council of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Iain MillerDirector

Iain has over 25 years’ experience in Foreign Direct Investment beginning his career in Taiwan in 1988 and subsequently heading up the inward investment efforts of Invest Northern Ireland in Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea) and latterly Europe (UK & Ireland, Benelux, Germany and France) delivering projects across a wide range of sectors and operations including advanced manufacturing, Financial Services, ICT, Business Services, Food and Agriculture.

He has established and co-founded a number of companies with varying interests involved in international trade, product design and manufacture, sales and marketing, and sports. Iain holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ulster and a Master’s from the University of Reading and speaks Mandarin, having lived in Asia over 15 years.

Declan BarrySenior Principal, Head of Sales & Business Development

Specialising in assisting government and economic development agencies, Declan has considerable experience in assisting the attraction of inward investment (FDI) and helping indigenous and international companies to export into new markets through coaching improvements in sales processes and making qualified introductions. Declan holds a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership as well as a Bachelors degree in Marketing from Ulster University in addition to Strategic Negotiation from University of Michigan and Global Leadership from Boston College.

Nial BorthistleSenior Principal, Head of Commercial Sales

Nial has over ten years’ experience in Foreign Direct Investment sector analysis, both in working for HMC and for economic development clients. Nial currently manages the research and analysis team that undertakes target sector identification, company profiling, decision maker qualification and bespoke targeting for clients globally. He has assisted in the delivery of several large projects for HMC’s clients including large Shared Services Centres, Business Process Outsourcing operations and Financial Services projects.

Michael KerrPrincipal, Business Development

Michael has been with HMC Global for seven years. Prior to this, Michael worked in business development in the ICT industry. At HMC Global, Michael has worked on the delivery of many contracts, identifying and developing sector propositions, corporate mapping and identifying and developing investment opportunities. A Graduate from Queen’s university in Belfast, he is a fluent French and German speaker, and most recently completed a postgraduate certificate in Executive Leadership through the University of Ulster in Belfast.

Hannah DuffySenior Associate, Head of Delivery

Hannah has six years of experience working in international trade and foreign direct investment and has fluency in French after spending five years working in Paris and Montpellier. Demonstrating expertise in industry sectors such as food processing, ICT and Financial Services among others, Hannah provides direction and support to business development teams and research teams working on FDI attraction, trade development and export programmes for North American and European economic development agencies and private sector companies.
