Prior to co-founding HMC Global, John set up Invest Northern Ireland’s offices in the United States and across Europe, as well as managing their operations in Asia, helping bring in investment projects from companies such as Citigroup, Vodafone, Visa, NYSE, and IBM.
In the past, he was Chief Executive Officer of a local pharmaceutical company, presiding over a 40% increase in its revenue and its eventual successful sale to a US buyer. He holds an MBA from the University of Ulster and currently sits on the council of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Iain has over 25 years’ experience in Foreign Direct Investment beginning his career in Taiwan in 1988 and subsequently heading up the inward investment efforts of Invest Northern Ireland in Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea) and latterly Europe (UK & Ireland, Benelux, Germany and France) delivering projects across a wide range of sectors and operations including advanced manufacturing, Financial Services, ICT, Business Services, Food and Agriculture.
He has established and co-founded a number of companies with varying interests involved in international trade, product design and manufacture, sales and marketing, and sports. Iain holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ulster and a Master’s from the University of Reading and speaks Mandarin, having lived in Asia over 15 years.
